tamoxifen and supplements?

Last reply: 09 April 2014 08:08

Do any of you take supplements with tamoxifen? I have started taking calcium with vitamin D and cod liver oil to see if it can help the aches and pains I have some days Image removed. Now someone has mentioned glucosmaine, apparently a new report says it can add years to your life Image removed. My GP doesn't seem to have any advice on supplements and I've seen varied reports online about whether they do any good...

Morning Kazoo

Sorry to hear that you are suffering with joint pain on tamoxifen Image removed.. I am on tamoxifen almost a year and 'occasionally' take a well known brand of calcium complete (as I try to keep my diet dairy free). My oncologist said to take a calcium supplement only if I wanted but that tamoxifen is actually good for the bones (I think this applies if you're pre-menopausal and not if you're post???) and he felt I did not need an extra supplement Image removed.

I have been lucky with tamoxifen in that the only side effect I get is really bad hot flushes at night and I have now (only 5 days ago) started taking Clonidine (prescribed by onc) for this Image removed. Perhaps you could check with your oncologist to see if there is anything he could give you on prescription for this.. life is hard enough without sore joints aswell Image removed.

Apart from that the only other thing I take every day is Chlorella.
