Stomach Cancer

Last reply: 19 December 2022 23:26
Hello all, My husband, 43, has been diagnosed with a stage 4 gastric Cancer last week! We were shocked as he had no symptoms other thank an occasional heartburn. We were told it was probably caught early given his young age, no symptoms and general good health. How I wish that was true! Last week the scans showed it has spread to the abdomen area and we were told it is no longer operable! Here I am writing to you desperate! We have three kids age 12 and under (youngest is 1.5). We are both foreigners living in ireland for 15 years now and have no family here! I am terrified of what is to come 😱😱😭😭😭

Presence of precancerous cells following LLETZ

Last reply: 13 October 2021 16:42
Hi, I had my first abnormal smear about 8 years ago. I've been in and out of the Colposcopy clinic since then with only one normal smear in that time. I recently had my first LLETZ and got my results which confirm presence of precancerous cell (as they expected). No cancer cell were found. I another smear in 6 months. I'm very worried. It's alway been low grade changes. They think use of steroids might be the reason my body hasn't dealt with this it's self! What happens if there are still abnormal cell in my next smear? Thanks

Leaking from Pelvis following Lympnode removal during Radical Hysterectomy

Last reply: 06 October 2021 14:13
Hi All I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in June and had a Radical Hysterectomy, during the surgery Lympnodes were removed from my pelvis for biopsy. My medical team advised that there may be some leaking from my pelvis and vagina following this procedure because my body will be trying to redirect the lymph fluid. This did happen, it started 3 weeks after surgery and lasted for 7 weeks, I'm a poster lady for Tena right now, both pads and incontinence pants. The leaking stopped all of a sudden with horrendous pain 3 weeks ago and then I experienced a discharge from my back passage for a week, again thankfully this stopped and all was going well until yesterday. The leaking has started again, every time I stand up the fluid runs out of me, I have worn 5 pads between 10pm last night and 9am this morning. A lot of info but I'm wondering has anyone else experienced this leaking following removal of Lymph nodes. I'm in for a CT scan tomorrow as I had a serious UTI in the first 4 weeks since surgery and the Medical team want to ensure there is nothing else going on, this is peace of mind but the leaking and wearing of incontinence pants and pads is soul destroying. I don't know anyone else who has had to have a Radical Hysterectomy due to Cervical Cancer so can't find any information regarding leaking of fluid. I'm 14 weeks post surgery so feel that my recovery hasn't really started yet, 1 step forward and 10 steps back. The leaking may not be common post surgery so any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Buddy system?

Last reply: 07 February 2024 18:23
Hi I was wondering whether or not you have the ability to set up a "buddy system" for folks. I have an MPN, Essential Thrombocythemia and it would be nice to connect with someone else who has the same diagnosis.

Period after several years

Last reply: 13 October 2021 16:46
Hi, I was treated for BC in 2021/13 - involving surgery, chemo and radiation followed by tamoxifen and then letrozole. I came off letrozole in January. my periods never really resumed after chemo and so I would say it's at least 5 years since I've had any period, including spotting, etc. My blood-work from 2/3 years ago indicated I was in menopause. This week I have a full on period with a good bit of discomfort in the area of my stomach where my uterus is and involving my left ovary. I'm wondering if this is common and could it be my body adjusting to coming off the hormone treatment. I've had some pain in my non-effected breast which I went to the GP with and have an appointment in the Breast clinic early next month. I'm wondering will I just wait until then or should I have the occurrence of the period checked before then? If it's common I'm happy enough to wait. Thanks for your time. I'm 50 years old.

DCIS - constant sweating

Last reply: 03 November 2021 12:41
Hi all, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in June 2020. I had a lumpectomy, 25 sessions of radiation treatment and am currently on Tamoxifen 20mg. I had numerous infections post surgery which delayed the healing process and I also have lymphoedema. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had issues with severe sweating? When it starts it’s from the top of my head to the tips of my toes and can last for some time and I’ve even had to change my clothes on numerous occasions because of it. I know hot flashes and sweating are a side effect of the tamoxifen but just wondering if what I’m dealing with is ‘normal’? It’s getting to the point now where I don’t even want to leave the house as I never know when it’s going to happen, how bad it’s going to be, how long it will last and I feel like I constantly smell as I can’t use any of the deodorants I used before being diagnosed. Thanks, MrsB.

Tamoxifen- Nausea & headace

Last reply: 06 November 2021 01:48
Hi, I just started Tomoxifen a month ago. Side effects not too bad so far except for a bit of nausea in the mornings. Occasionally I have really sharp shooting pains in my head. Anyone else experience similar symptoms and any remedies that might have helped? Also, apart from grapefruit is there any other foods I should avoid while on this treatment? Thank you 🙏🏻🥰
